Jefferson City, Mo. -- On the anniversary of the economic stimulus package Congressman Roy Blunt voted against, he attended an event for a Springfield project that received over one million dollars in funding from the stimulus package.

Asked for his thoughts on the stimulus after touring the project that benefitted from more than $1 million in stimulus funding , Blunt said his vote had been "the right vote" and proposed blocking all remaining stimulus funds.

“Only someone who has been in Washington as long as Roy Blunt could praise a project while also saying it shouldn’t receive funds,” said Missouri Democratic Party Communications Director Ryan Hobart. “Congressman Blunt’s hypocrisy and DC doublespeak insults the intelligence of voters and attempts to hide his record of voting in favor of special interests and not the people of Missouri.”

EPA selected Springfield to receive the grant based on the city's demonstrated ability to assist the community through effective brownfields redevelopment loans.
