Is State Senator Bill Stouffer Using His Official Staff and State Resources to Benefit His Campaign?
For Immediate Release: February 2, 2010 Contact: Ryan Hobart (573) 636-5241 Ext. 125 Is State Senator Bill Stouffer Using His Official Staff and State Resources to Benefit His Campaign? Jefferson City, Mo – State Senator Bill Stouffer, who is running for congress, is holding a press conference in his State Senate office to address the need for the US military’s “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy -- an issue that he has brought up many times in his congressional campaign. According to the Missouri Ethics Commission, state funds and resources cannot be used to benefit a campaign or candidate for office. In response to Senator Stouffer’s press conference announcement, Missouri Democratic Party Communications Director Ryan Hobart released the following statement: “Senator Stouffer has some questions to answer about this press conference. Specifically, why is he using tax-payer funded resources to hold a press conference related to something he has made a central issue of his congressional campaign? Also, as a state senator, exactly how much influence does he have over federal military policy? These are the type of questions he needs to address, because it sure seems like he is abusing his office and position for political gain.” --30--
