For Immediate Release: Date: January 19, 2010 Contact: Ryan Hobart (573) 636-5241 Ext. 125 DC DOUBLESPEAK: For the Second Time in a Week, Congressman Blunt Takes Credit for Funds He Voted Against Blunt Touts Homeland Security Project, Even Though He Voted Against Funding Jefferson City, Mo – Providing the second example of blatant hypocrisy in one week, Congressman Roy Blunt is taking credit for a Homeland Security grant that will be used to build a tornado safe room in West Plains, even though he voted against funding for the project. [CQ Today, 9/24/08; Vote 632 , 9/24/08; HR 2638/ Public Law 110-329] “This is the second time in one week Congressman Blunt has sought recognition for supporting a project he actually voted against – first it was grants to help homeless shelters and now Homeland Security grants,” said Missouri Democratic Party Spokesman Ryan Hobart. “Congressman Blunt’s hypocritical DC doublespeak may work with his fellow Washington insiders, but Missouri voters deserve to know the truth about his record.” Despite Congressman Blunt’s vote, over $1.3 million is going to fund a tornado safe room for the Missouri State University campus in West Plains, Missouri.
