For Immediate Release: December 18, 2009 Contact: Ryan Hobart (573) 636-5241 Ext. 125 Lt. Gov. Kinder Votes Against Providing Property Tax Relief for Working Families who Purchase Homes Kinder opposes program that has the potential to provide tax relief to over 9,000 families making under $100, 000 a year Jefferson City, MO – At the Missouri Housing Development Commission meeting this morning, Lieutenant Governor Kinder was the lone no vote against providing property tax relief to working families that buy homes in the year 2010. The program will provide $15 million in property tax relief. It is estimated that 9,000 to 11,000 families making under $100, 000 a year will benefit from the program. In response, Missouri Democratic Party Spokesman Ryan Hobart released the following statement: “Peter Kinder had a chance to give thousands of working families support as they buy homes of their own, but he refused to stand up for them. Kinder has no problem securing millions of dollars in tax breaks for wealthy developers, but he refuses to help working families. This is not the kind of leadership Missouri needs from one of its elected officials.”
