For Immediate Release: November 13, 2009 Contact: Ryan Hobart (573) 636-5241 Ext. 125 Five Questions Missouri’s Republican Senate Candidates Should be Asked on Friday the 13th Will Missourians be lucky enough to get answers from Rep. Blunt, Senator Purgason and Mark Memoly? Jefferson City, MO – You think crossing the path of a black cat is unlucky? Try crossing the path of Senator Chuck Purgason if you are a low-income person with a disability and need Medicaid services (which he cut 100,000 people off). Or crossing the path of Congressman Roy Blunt if you’re not a Washington corporate special interest lobbyist and are just a regular senior citizen who needs Medicare (which he said has never helped anyone get healthy) or Social Security (which he tried to put into risky privatization schemes). Too many Missourians have been unlucky souls who’ve inadvertently crossed the path of Missouri Republican officeholders and candidates. So, in order to avoid seven years of bad luck for countless Missourians, here are five questions the Missouri GOP Senate candidates should answer today so we know where they stand and can avoid crossing their paths. 1. If you are elected will you support a no earmark pledge? 2. Charlie Crist or Marco Rubio? 3. Do you support banning lobbyists from giving Members of Congress gifts? 4. How well do you think the Bush/Cheney Administration demonstrated fiscal responsibility and limited government during its 8 years of control? 5. Did you agree with the Wall Street bailout (TARP) and will you accept contributions from institutions that have been bailed out? --30--
