For Immediate Release: September 1, 2009 Contact: Ryan Hobart (573) 636-5241 Ext. 125 Blunt Tries to Conceal Record on Insurance Contributions but Missourians Know Better Blunt tries to downplay over $500,000 from insurance execs, PACs, lobbyists, etc Jefferson City, Mo – Congressman Blunt attempted to downplay the hundreds of thousands of dollars he has taken from insurance industry political action committees, lobbyists, executives and others today. In a news story from KTTS in Springfield, Mo., Congressman Roy Blunt offered this defense in response to a billboard highlighting the money he has received from the insurance industry during his time in Congress: “Blunt says the billboard is misleading, because he can't take money from the industry itself. He says the money was donated to his campaign by people who happen to be in the insurance industry.” (http://www.ktts.com/tabid/4882/xmid/35789/Default.aspx) The news report also stated that Representative Blunt believes the billboard highlighting the money he has received from the Insurance industry is “false.” However, according to the Center for Responsive Politics, Blunt has received $564,032 from the insurance industry.
